This penny was discovered face-up in a parking lot. I put it in my pocket and moments later I found an extra dime in the soda machine coin return.

Road Trip

We’re on a road trip to visit some family. We drove by a new wind farm. It was the first time I’d seen a whole group of wind turbines together. I watch the propellers being transported on the highway as I go to and from work. It always amazes me how large just one blade is on these things.

This is about as close to a clear blue sky as we get around here. There is a lot of commercial air traffic in this part of the country.

Signaling: Automotive Shop and Logos, Part 2

The car is back from CarMax and an interesting thing happened. It was returned with the front CarMax license plate missing. What does this mean?

They had given me a total for the work on second day, discounted it $600 as a courtesy (looked like my logo plan had worked) on the third day, but then raised the price with additional work and parts over the rest of the week until the total was back to what they originally quoted me. I guess I still saved that $600, but it doesn’t feel like it when I’m signing that $2000.00 receipt.

They did put in a new battery at no charge, and my service representative was outstanding at communicating, and I really did feel like her and the technician worked hard to get me the lowest prices they could on the parts. But I have a feeling they would have done the same for someone without the Carmax gear.

Introduction

I figure that 08-08-08 at 08:08 a.m. is a good time to make this introductory post on this new site.

Topics I plan to post on include game theory, statistics, random events, luck, discord, physics, entropy, hyperreality, semiotics, transhumanism,  plus my own experiments on anything that catches my fancy at the moment.

To kick things off I have purchased a lotto ticket. I think it was an appropriate way of celebrating a blog about random events and luck.
